YOUR 10 WEEK JOURNEY WITH JOHN MATTONE, THE WORLD’S TOP EXECUTIVE COACH.

Module 1. Having a Courageous Mindset
Learning Objective: Possessing a mindset of courage will help you to be more open to change, transformation and disruption in all areas of your life. In addition, your ability to role model and lead others to better handle change is ignited from the courage they see in you.
- The predictive algorithm that determines your success as a leader and person.
- How to “look inside” and find the evidence you need to be courageous.

Module 2. Create a Massive Vision
Learning Objective: Having a mindset of thinking different, bigger and better is the fuel you need to be bolder, more creative, more innovative, and more impactful as a leader and person.
- The journey of leadership is not about you—it’s about others; the ultimate measure of your leadership success will be the extent to which you have positively touched the hearts, minds and souls of others.
- What you want to do and become in your life is not sufficient. You need to be crystal clear on the vision of the leader and person you must become.

Module 3. Becoming Self-aware of Your Inner Core
Learning Objective: Being self-aware—accurately seeing yourself the way others see you, is the foundational key to creating a leadership development plan (i.e., your personal prescription) that is targeted, accurate and actionable focused on leveraging your gifts and addressing your gaps.
- Your inner-core strength (i.e., self-concept, thoughts, emotions, values, character) will determine your outer-core success.
- “Prescription before diagnosis” is malpractice in medicine but also in the world of leadership and personal growth.

Module 4. Being Open to Feedback
Learning Objective: Making the decision to be vulnerable—being open to feedback from others is the key to growth as a person and leader. People who create this positive habit, enjoy extraordinary success in their personal and professional lives. The “vulnerability decision” is also the seed of innovation and creativity.
- How to ask for feedback from those around you and how to thank them.
- How to share your plan for growth—your Individual Leadership Development Plan (ILDP) with others.

Module 5. Spending Time on Reflection
Learning Objective: The mindset of slowing down and engaging in deep, quiet thought, taking time for reading, reflecting, internalizing, and learning how to “take stock” of both the great things you did as a person and leader as well as where you fell short—at the end of every single day, is perhaps the strongest ignitor to positive change as a leader and person.
- Learn how to “unplug”.
- Reflection exercise to create your Reflection Habit.

Module 6. The Disciplined Pursuit of Less
Learning Objective: Having a mindset that enables you to focus on the fewer value-add activities as opposed to constantly adding more and more to your to-do list, is critical to your success as a leader. Distraction is your enemy. Distraction will derail your gifts and success personally and professionally and is the root cause of why many organizations ultimately fail.
- Learn how to say “no”.
- Learn how to focus and delegate.

Module 7. Long Term Mindset
Learning Objective: Having a long-term mindset in a world that demands immediate results, instant gratification, and the pressure to perform and deliver results, is the key to creating the toughness and resilience you will need to combat the inevitable set-back’s, ups and downs, and pain that comes with the world of immediacy. You must be resilient for your team to see it and value it for themselves individually and collectively.
- Long-term goals exercise.
- Positive habits you will need to create long-term success.

Module 8. Finding the Glow
Learning Objective: Finding your glow happens when you are in tune with your inner-core and expressing through positive leadership behaviors the real gifts and beauty of your soul. Your presence as a leader is based on the words you express, how you deliver those words, what you look like as you deliver those words, even what you don’t say. Your reputation—which can make or break you as a leader, comes from the quality of your presence. In turn, your presence comes from finding your glow.
- How mentors and coaches can help you find and ignite your glow.
- Find your glow exercise.

Module 9. Developing a Core Purpose Statement
Learning Objective: Having an accepting mindset that enables you to think about and ask yourself some of the most important questions you must find answers to along your journey of life and leadership, will determine your success, even your legacy, as a leader and person. Getting clear on your personal “constitution” will give you clarity and focus on what your true differentiators are as a leader and person and what makes you unique. Great people—great leaders touch others through their positive uniqueness.
- Core purpose exercise.
- What brings you happiness and feeling of abundance.

Module 10. Making the Decision to Be Great
Learning Objective: Becoming great as a person and leader doesn’t magically happen. It starts with your decision to be great—to stand-out, to add tremendous value, to be unique, to be a trailblazer, to be a role model to others, to help others make their own decision to be great. Becoming great in any pursuit comes from a craving desire and deep belief that greatness can, will and must happen. If you think these things you will fail. If you deeply believe, you will succeed.
- Finding your deep belief that you can, will and must make a difference.
- Making the decision to be great—start today.

We wrote the global bestselling books on Intelligent Leadership: Intelligent Leadership: What You Need to Know to Unlock Your Full Potential (2013), Cultural Transformations (2016) and The Intelligent Leader: Unlocking the 7 Secrets to Leading Others and Leaving Your Legacy (2019). The Intelligent Leader
Unlocking the 7 Secrets to Leading Others and Leaving Your Legacy
In today’s business world, we find ourselves in a conundrum: all businesses crave superior leadership, yet such leadership is in massive short supply. While there have never been so many books, blogs, speakers, and seminars on leadership, global organizations are finding that the supply of leadership talent is significantly lagging the supply of raw intellectual horsepower. There is no shortage of intellect in the world of business; however, when it comes to superior leadership, most global organizations are realizing how difficult it is to compete simply because they just don’t have enough great leaders in their ranks. In addition, the challenge of preparing the next generation of leaders to handle the fiercely competitive global landscape and lightning fast pace of change that defines this era, is proving almost insurmountable.
ILCI has found a solution to this leadership paradox and developed an approach that cuts right to the core of what holds leaders back from greatness and future leaders from achieving their potential.
Key Elements of the Presentation:
- • Think Different; Think Big
- • The Power of the “Vulnerability Decision”
- • Leveraging “Gifts” and Addressing “Gaps”
- • The Courage to Execute as the Instigator to Agility in Learning and Innovation!
- • Possessing the ‘Privilege Mindset”
- • Being Vigilant
- • Course-Correcting
Available as a 1-hour speech or webinar, half-day webinar/workshop, or full-day webinar/workshop.

Cultural Transformations
Building Cultures that Drive Results
In this power-packed program, based on John Mattone’s Amazon and Inc. Magazine 2016 Bestseller, Cultural Transformations as well as our vast global experience, your ILCI Coach will reveal the critical steps that must be planned-out and executed in order for any organization to create and sustain a renewed, winning culture that engages, inspires and unleashes talent in support of driving breakthrough results.
The road to reinvention and renewal for any organization requires a workforce—from top to bottom, who are “centered”, happy, and passionate about making themselves better but also their organization better. The real pathway to achieving sustained success in any organization lies in creating a culture of “centeredness”.
The challenge for global organizations as well as the small to mid-sized entrepreneurial organizations is not “how do we make our people happy”? The real challenge is ensuring that everyone is “centered” so they are poised and passionate to be the best they can be every day. The culture of “centeredness” can only be achieved when people feel connected and aligned with their organization’s vision, mission and purpose and, they believe that through their own efforts and contributions to the mission of their organization that they themselves can achieve their own personal mission. It is through achieving “centeredness” in people that passion, happiness, joy, and true engagement happens
Culture is the foundation from which successful organizations are built—however, most struggle to create an environment in which employees can be fulfilled, effective in their work, and feel “unleashed”. What exactly is it that makes some organizations achieve and sustain breakthrough success, while others—most in fact, struggle in this pursuit?
Key Elements of ILCI’s Presentation:
- • Research and Latest Thinking: Leadership, Talent & Culture are “Leading Indicators” that Predict Sustained Operating Success
- • Roadmap of Cultural Transformation to Align with Company Vision, Mission & Purpose
- • What is Culture
- • The 5 Cultures of Culture
- • Transforming Culture—The 6 Critical Steps
Available as a 1-hour speech or webinar, half-day webinar/workshop, or full-day webinar/workshop.
Culture Assessment & Transformation
Culture Assessment & Transformation
“Creating a culture of innovation, agility, and creativity are the keys to ensuring your organization’s success and survival in today’s turbulent global business environment.”
– ILCI
ILCI’s Typical Client
While we do work with Fortune 1000 organizations to help them with their transformation initiatives, our real “sweet spot” is working with small to mid-sized global entrepreneurial companies. Through our research as well as the interviews we have done with many of the top CEO’s in the world, we have discovered two reasons why small to mid-sized entrepreneurial organizations fail to grow and, if they do grow, are challenged to sustain their growth:
#1: They underestimate the important role leadership plays in creating a strong culture; and
#2: They overestimate the importance of culture per se, while underestimating the importance of building and sustaining the kind of culture that supports the primary operating imperative of the business.
What we have discovered in our research is that most CEOs, owners and entrepreneurs are correct and appropriate to focus their time and energy on creating and producing clearly differentiated products and services and then acquiring and retaining those clients and customers who need their differentiated products and services. We have learned, however, that the most successful, entrepreneurial CEO’s, place as much, if not even greater value, on creating and sustaining the right leadership and operating culture. The “best of the best” CEO’s and organizations absolutely understand, embrace, and live the belief that leadership, talent, and culture are the leading indicators to achieving and sustaining operating success. Yes, focusing on the products and services that serve a market need is important. Even more important, however, is having the right leadership and culture in place that ignites the right strategy and execution of that strategy—in support of the operating goals of the business.
What is Culture?
Your organization’s culture represents the collective character, values, thoughts, emotions, beliefs and behaviors of your leaders and individual contributors. Your organization’s culture is a product of such factors as its’ history and how your leaders and individual contributors ascribe meaning and value to it as well as leadership style (legacy and current) which is then reflected in the creation and implementation of your organization’s values, vision, mission, purpose, strategy, structure and roles.
Why is Culture Important?
Your organization’s current and future operating success is tied to the “health and vibrancy” and overall “maturity” of your culture. Regardless of your unique transformation challenge (e.g., the need to be more innovative, collaborative, global, more responsive, more efficient, execute better, become more customer-focused, or even integrate or merge with another organization, etc.), your culture and how strong and vibrant it is, will determine if you succeed or fail.
There is no organization that exists in the world today that is not interested in getting better. Organizations that are effective, want to be more effective. Organizations that are lagging their competition want to be leading their competition. And organizations that are leading their market want to make sure they continue to lead and dominate their market.
Regardless of your organizations operating imperative, two things are certain based on our many decades of experience working with leaders and organizations all over the world–achieving and sustaining operating success in your organization will always be in direct proportion to how effectively your senior leaders:
(1) create a culture that truly supports your most pressing operating imperative; and (2) continuously determining if you in fact have created this culture and, if not, quickly and decisively course-correcting to ensure this goal is met. These are the two most important jobs of a CEO, owner, entrepreneur, and their senior executive teams. The infographic below, Transforming Culture: The 6 Critical Steps, highlights the steps to help you and your organization successfully navigate your transformation challenges.

Whether your organization is a “market leader” or “laggard” is irrelevant. The need to transform will never end as all businesses are facing growing disruption from all angles. According to research by the Boston Consulting Group, 75% of business transformations flat-out fail, resulting in an organization’s decline, failure, or their eventual extinction. A big reason for their failure? CEO’s and senior leadership teams who were not as diligent as they needed to be in creating and transforming their culture in support of their operating goals. In fact, the biggest reason for their failure? A lack of leadership.
Speaking of bad leadership again, only 25% of organization’s who are considered “market leaders”, transform from a position of strength to sustain their position of strength, while 75% of “market leaders” currently are not engaged in positive and pre-emptive transformation efforts—which almost guarantees their eventual failure.
In a global study of over 7,000 leaders from companies in 150 countries, 86% indicated that corporate culture was very important in driving operation success; however, only 28% believe they understand their culture well and only 19% believe they have the right culture.
